The problem

Couve Culture was a weekly guide to Vancouver, Washington and Clark County. Local events, places to eat, weekend plans, and a voice that sounded like someone who lived there.

It reached 11,000 subscribers. I shut it down in July 2026 because I had not found a business model that justified keeping it going.

What the agents did

An n8n workflow extracted dates, locations, entry details, and prices from local Instagram posts. An LLM drafted editions from those details using written formatting instructions.

The newsletter used a repeatable format: a personal opening, top picks, day-by-day events, and the concert calendar.

What I did

I handled curation and the voice. The practical details still had to be easy to find. Event blurbs put the cost first and ended with a useful link.

What happened

Readers opening the email did not settle the business question. I had 11,000 subscribers and a publication I knew how to produce. I still chose to close it.

The lessons carried into Park Banter and made its development faster. The full postmortem is in the build log.

What it taught me

  1. Audience growth did not settle the business model.

Couve Culture reached 11,000 subscribers. I still had not found a model that justified keeping it going, and I shut it down in July 2026.

  2. Keep the useful details in the format.

The event instructions made the cost, date, location, and link part of each blurb. That gave me a repeatable structure to review against.
